Orion Jet Center, Chelsea Aviation team up to donate flights for Haiti

02-Feb-2010
On January 21, 2010, Orion Jet Center and Chelsea Aviation Group, located at Airside International Business Park within Opa-locka Executive Airport, launched a series of donated flights to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, to support relief efforts for the earthquake-ravaged country.

Orion & Chelsea donated a 737 aircraft and various resources for the relief mission that brought more than 20,000 pounds of cargo and over 100 doctors, nurses and other medical staff from Project Medishare, Miami Children's Hospital and CARE to Haiti. Once the aircraft landed in Port-Au-Prince, 83 passengers comprised of relief doctors, Haitian adults and orphaned children boarded for the return flight to Miami.

According to Jay Pollack and Chris Blanchard, partners of Chelsea Aviation Group and Orion Jet Center, they have also donated a G5 and Citation Sovereign aircraft for two other missions carrying Miami Children's Hospital relief doctors and nurses to Port-Au-Prince, resulting in a successful rescue of three critical children and their parents.

“We intend to continue playing a role in the relief efforts for Haiti and are happy that our partners jets can be used for a cause this crucial,” said Pollack. “Our location and resources at Airside, in Opa-locka Executive Airport, give us the flexibility to transport much needed supplies and medical staff to Haiti.”

Chelsea Aviation Group and Orion Jet Center have additional flights to Haiti planned through January and February including an eight-passenger Citation aircraft facilitating two missions per day from January 28 through February 1.
